GetBuckets privacy policy

Last updated 9 September 2026

GetBuckets counts basketball makes and misses using your phone's camera. Everything it does happens on your phone. The app has no internet permission, no account, no analytics and no advertising.

Camera

The app uses the camera to watch the hoop while a session runs. Frames are analysed on the device in real time and are not stored, except as described under Shot videos below.

What is stored on your phone

  • Sessions: date, length, makes, misses, streaks and, when court lines were set, the zone of each shot.
  • Shot videos: if enabled, a clip of about four seconds around each shot, so you can check a call later. You are asked whether to keep them when a session ends, and you can delete them for one session or all sessions at any time.
  • Reviewed videos: when you review a video from your phone, the app can keep a link to that file so you can watch shots again. The file itself is not copied.
  • Shot data: for each shot, what the detector saw for a few seconds around it (positions of the ball and hoop, not images), the app's call, and any correction you made. This is what would let a wrong call improve the app. It can be turned off in Settings, and it only ever leaves the phone if you choose Export and share the file yourself.
  • Crash reports: if the app crashes, the error and the last lines of its log are saved on the phone. On the next start you are asked whether to email them to the developer. Nothing is sent unless you do.
  • Settings: voice and earbud preferences.

All of this lives in the app's private storage. It is removed when you uninstall the app.

What leaves your phone

Nothing on its own. GetBuckets does not request network access, so it cannot send data anywhere. The only way data leaves the phone is when you export shot data or send a crash report or feedback, which go through the app you choose, such as your email or file sharing.

Microphone and audio

The app does not record audio. It plays spoken feedback through your speaker or earbuds, and while a session runs it listens for earbud button presses so you can correct a call.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
